Where Yahoo News is cited most

Each row is one buyer category and one question shape the Index measures. The rank is against every source cited on that same set of answer runs, so a placement is worth most where the publication already ranks high for the question your buyer asks.

How to get into Yahoo News

  • Yahoo Creators

A program in which established writers publish directly on Yahoo.com and earn a share of revenue from their stories. Yahoo describes it as an exclusive program for lifestyle writers; it launched in beta as invite-only in March 2024 and now takes applications.

Apply online at https://creators.yahoo.com/apply. Be prepared to share a few of your favorite story samples for review.

Applicants must be U.S. residents over 18; creators of written content with a distinct perspective in one of Yahoo's target categories (style and beauty, home and garden, humor, parenting, travel, wellbeing, food and recipes, nature, astrology, entertainment, technology, autos, pets, weather); have a combined audience of at least 10,000 followers across eligible platforms (Medium, Substack, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube); show exceptional writing skills; and have a strong, consistent social media presence. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee acceptance; only a select number are invited. Written content is the current focus. Content does not need to be exclusive to Yahoo. Creators earn a 50/50 ad revenue share and an 80/20 affiliate revenue split in the creator's favor, with no monthly fees; payment requires a Stripe account and takes roughly 45 days per month. Applicants rejected for not meeting eligibility may reapply after six months; those rejected for policy violations may not reapply.

  • Submit press releases (Yahoo Finance)

Yahoo Finance news is aggregated from content providers, including company press releases supplied by newswire companies. Yahoo Finance carries press releases for companies traded on the exchanges it covers.

Submit press releases through one of Yahoo Finance's contributing newswires, which distribute company announcements for a fee: Newsfile, PR Newswire, ACCESSWIRE, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire or NewMediaWire.

The press release must have the ticker symbol in its header (Yahoo says a newswire representative can help). Releases are carried for companies traded on exchanges Yahoo Finance covers. The newswires charge a fee; the amount is not stated by Yahoo.

  • Update company info on Yahoo Finance

Company profile and industry listing data on Yahoo Finance comes from Capital IQ and Morningstar, not from Yahoo directly.

Contact the data providers to request updates: Capital IQ ([email protected]) or Morningstar ([email protected]).

Changes take up to 14 days to display on Yahoo Finance.

  • Featured Community post on a Yahoo Finance ticker page

Yahoo Finance users can submit their own analysis of a specific stock or asset to be considered as a featured post on that ticker's page.

Sign in to Yahoo Finance on desktop, publish the post in Yahoo Finance Community (https://finance.yahoo.com/community/), then email the link to the post to [email protected].

At least 400-600 words (longer is allowed); written as an investment thesis (long, short, hold, pass or similar personal view) with the expected time horizon; must not give investment advice or tell readers to buy or sell; the first paragraph should name the company, the time horizon, any target return and a brief summary of the view. Links to your website, newsletter, YouTube channel or social accounts may be included. If the post is featured, you receive an email with a link to the ticker page.

Is a placement here worth pursuing?

It depends on the questions your buyers ask. Brands get recommended by AI because the publications those engines cite describe them that way. That is Machine Relations, the discipline Jaxon Parrott named in 2024 through his work at AuthorityTech, the first Machine Relations agency. The table above is what decides whether coverage in Yahoo News moves your brand in AI answers at all: it moves where the publication is already cited for the question your buyer asks, and much less where it is not.

How this is measured

Every figure on this page is the Machine Relations Index’s, carried with its own denominator. The Index runs buyer questions against 5 answer engines and records which sources each answer cites. This release covers 2026-05-10 to 2026-10-06, 143 days of collection. A publication carries a published rank once it clears the Index's evidence floor of 10 observations across 7 collection dates; below it, the standing reads as still collecting. AuthorityTech does not compute these numbers. Machine Relations Index publishes them, release 2026-10-06, methodology mri_score_v2.0.
