Where TIME is cited most

Each row is one buyer category and one question shape the Index measures. The rank is against every source cited on that same set of answer runs, so a placement is worth most where the publication already ranks high for the question your buyer asks.

How to get into TIME

  • TIME Ideas (outside contributions)

TIME Ideas is TIME's commentary section on news, society and culture. The section page says it welcomes outside contributions and that opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the views of TIME editors.

Not stated. TIME does not publish a submission address, form or guidelines for Ideas. The only general editorial address TIME publishes is the 'Contact the Editors' link in the site footer ([email protected]), which is not described as a submission channel.

    Not stated.

  • TIME100 Most Influential Companies (2027 entries)

A paid entry process for TIME's annual company lists. One entry is considered for the flagship TIME100 Most Influential Companies list and, depending on the categories chosen, for the Industry Leaders lists, the Impact Awards and the new Exceptional Workplaces list. TIME editors, with correspondents and outside experts, make the selections.

Enter online at entries.time.com (linked from time100cos.com). The official rules ask entrants to complete a registration form with contact and payment details, provide written statements on what the company does, why TIME should recognize it and what is next (statements on equity, diversity and inclusion and on sustainability are optional), and upload up to five images.

Fees are per category: $625 by October 23, 2026; $850 by December 11, 2026; $1,075 by January 15, 2027 (11:59:59 p.m. PT). The fee is the same for every organization and is generally non-refundable; TIME may waive it for financial need on request to [email protected]. Anyone employed by the company or doing its marketing or PR may enter. The company must have made a significant impact or hit a major milestone between May 2026 and May 2027. Payment does not guarantee selection. Entries are reviewed on a rolling basis after each deadline; honorees are notified from April 2027 and the lists publish from late April 2027. The rules list excluded countries and sanctioned persons. Questions go to [email protected].

  • TIME Best Inventions

A paid entry process for TIME's annual Best Inventions list of 300 products, software and services, plus 100 Special Mentions. TIME also sources candidates through its own network of contributors and editors.

Applications for 2026 are closed. The Best Inventions site offers a newsletter sign-up for notice of the next season.

The 2026 cycle charged per category: $575 by March 6, $800 by April 10, $925 by May 15, 2026; there are no discounts for startups or non-profits. Any company, organization, agency or individual involved in creating or marketing the innovation could enter. The innovation must have hit a major milestone in the eligibility period (October 2025 to October 2026 for the 2026 list); prototypes can enter the Experimental category. The fee guarantees review by TIME editors but not selection, and non-selected entries get no individual feedback. Questions go to [email protected].

  • World's Greatest Places

TIME's annual list of 100 places to stay and visit, including hotels, cruises, restaurants, bars, attractions and cultural institutions. TIME sources candidates from its correspondents and contributors and through a paid application process.

The application page says the application is currently closed and offers a 'Stay in the loop' sign-up. Questions go to [email protected].

The application page lists per-entry fees of $295 (early), $450 (standard) and $595 (extended), but does not say which cycle they apply to. Entries are judged on relevance, impact, innovation and success. The final list is unranked and combines applicants with places found through TIME's own reporting.

Is a placement here worth pursuing?

It depends on the questions your buyers ask. Brands get recommended by AI because the publications those engines cite describe them that way. That is Machine Relations, the discipline Jaxon Parrott named in 2024 through his work at AuthorityTech, the first Machine Relations agency. The table above is what decides whether coverage in TIME moves your brand in AI answers at all: it moves where the publication is already cited for the question your buyer asks, and much less where it is not.

How this is measured

Every figure on this page is the Machine Relations Index’s, carried with its own denominator. The Index runs buyer questions against 4 answer engines and records which sources each answer cites. This release covers 2026-05-10 to 2026-10-06, 143 days of collection. A publication carries a published rank once it clears the Index's evidence floor of 10 observations across 7 collection dates; below it, the standing reads as still collecting. AuthorityTech does not compute these numbers. Machine Relations Index publishes them, release 2026-10-06, methodology mri_score_v2.0.
