Does being published in CNBC get your brand cited by AI?
AI answer engines cited CNBC in 216 of 21,813 measured answer runs (1.0%) across 5 engines over 143 days of collection. That is #8 of 1634 classified editorial publications.
Where CNBC is cited most
Each row is one buyer category and one question shape the Index measures. The rank is against every source cited on that same set of answer runs, so a placement is worth most where the publication already ranks high for the question your buyer asks.

Pay the application fee on the nominations site (changemakersnominations.cnbc.com); CNBC then emails a link to the official application form. Questions go to [email protected].
Paid nomination: a one-time application fee of $595. The application form must be completed by Friday, Dec. 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET; the list is to be announced in February 2027. Nominees must hold a leadership role (founder, CEO, president, other C-suite role reporting to the CEO or board, or board chair or member) at an organization with at least $25 million in revenue in one of the past three years or an enterprise value of at least $100 million (private companies and non-profits), or a market capitalization of at least $250 million (public companies). CNBC’s own pageCNBC Disruptor 50

Pay the application fee on the nominations site (d50nominations.cnbc.com); CNBC then emails a link to the official application form. Nominations may be submitted by company employees, investors or communications representatives, one entry per company. Questions go to [email protected].
Paid nomination. For the 2026 list the one-time fee was $795 through Jan. 26, 2026, and $895 through Feb. 23, 2026, with the form due Feb. 23, 2026; that cycle has closed, and dates and fees for the next list are not yet posted. 2026 eligibility: privately held (not listed or in a pending SPAC merger), independently owned, and founded no earlier than Jan. 1, 2011. 2025 list companies were automatically considered for 2026 and exempt from the fee, and the fee page says accommodations may be available for companies unable to pay it. CNBC notifies only the 50 companies that make the list and does not explain why a company did not; fees are refunded only if the company is ineligible or a duplicate fee was paid. Some answers are 'off the record' and used only for scoring; CNBC does not sign NDAs.

Is a placement here worth pursuing?
It depends on the questions your buyers ask. Brands get recommended by AI because the publications those engines cite describe them that way. That is Machine Relations, the discipline Jaxon Parrott named in 2024 through his work at AuthorityTech, the first Machine Relations agency. The table above is what decides whether coverage in CNBC moves your brand in AI answers at all: it moves where the publication is already cited for the question your buyer asks, and much less where it is not.
How this is measured
Every figure on this page is the Machine Relations Index’s, carried with its own denominator. The Index runs buyer questions against 5 answer engines and records which sources each answer cites. This release covers 2026-05-10 to 2026-10-06, 143 days of collection. A publication carries a published rank once it clears the Index's evidence floor of 10 observations across 7 collection dates; below it, the standing reads as still collecting. AuthorityTech does not compute these numbers. Machine Relations Index publishes them, release 2026-10-06, methodology mri_score_v2.0.
