## How to get into The Hill
- **Op-eds (Opinion contributors)**: Opinion pieces from outside contributors on timely topics relevant to The Hill's readers. The Hill says it publishes op-eds representing a diverse array of political opinions and favours unexpected, unpopular or contrarian arguments that take the other side's best arguments seriously. Paste the op-ed as text in the body of an email to opinion@thehill.com, or send it to an opinion editor you have previously worked with (not to multiple editors). Include a suggested headline and the author's email address so The Hill can send its contributor agreement for e-signature. 600 to 800 words. Hyperlink all assertions of fact, statistics and quotes. Must be exclusive and not published elsewhere in full or in part. Disclose relevant conflicts of interest. Not wanted: email pitches without an op-ed attached (usually not answered), PDF files, open letters, pseudonyms, jargon, self-promotion (the author's organization usually may appear only in the end bio, though a book on the topic may be mentioned and linked), unnecessary acronyms, diatribes, and 'swampy topics backed by large infusions of corporate money' (examples given include pharmacy benefit managers, patent law, antitrust and credit card swipe fees). The standard contributor agreement gives The Hill two weeks of exclusivity, during which you may post a 100-word excerpt with a link; afterwards you may republish anywhere. The Hill will not un-publish op-eds on request. Response time is not stated; The Hill says it receives scores of submissions a day and publishes only a small number. - **Letters to the editor**: Reader letters relating to an article that has appeared in The Hill. Email the letter. The page's text gives opinion@thehill.com, but the link on that address opens an email to letters@thehill.com (see notes). No longer than 350 words. Must relate to an article published in The Hill. Include your name, address and telephone number for verification; letters without them are not considered. Letters may be edited for content and space. Authors are not notified in advance of publication. Official page: https://thehill.com/letters-editors/
- **News tips, corrections and contacting reporters or editors**: The Hill's Help Center routes news tips, correction requests and messages for reporters or editors to a single newsroom email address. Email editor@thehill.com. For corrections, include the article headline or URL and the specific text in question. The Help Center says editors review every correction request. No confidential or encrypted tip channel and no response policy for tips is stated. ## Is a placement here worth pursuing?
It depends on the questions your buyers ask. Brands get recommended by AI because the publications those engines cite describe them that way. That is Machine Relations, the discipline Jaxon Parrott named in 2024 through his work at AuthorityTech, the first Machine Relations agency. Coverage in The Hill moves your brand in AI answers where the publication is already cited for the question your buyer asks, and much less where it is not.
## How this is measured
Every figure is the Machine Relations Index's, carried with its own denominator. AuthorityTech does not compute them. Release 2026-10-06, methodology mri_score_v2.0.
Window: 2026-05-10 to 2026-10-06, 143 days of collection.
Evidence floor for a published rank: 10 observations across 7 collection dates.
