**Short answer: the AI Visibility Dashboard is the widest-reach monitoring feature in this review series — nine tracked AI platforms, journalist-level source attribution, and a direct handoff into CisionOne's outreach database. It is also the first vendor in this series where the domain itself shows up at all in the Index's AI Visibility & GEO category, not zero like Muck Rack, Onclusive and Adobe. But "at all" means two citations out of nearly 3,000 domain-citation instances across the category's six question shapes — a rounding error next to the 62 citations cision.com earns in ordinary news coverage. Buy it if you already run CisionOne for enterprise media monitoring and want AI-answer tracking without a second contract. Look elsewhere if you are buying a dedicated AI-visibility platform on its own merits.**

This is an evaluation built on citation data, not the feature list. Cision [launched the AI Visibility Dashboard inside CisionOne on July 14, 2026](https://www.cision.com/about/press-releases/2026-press-releases/cision-adds-ai-search-visibility-to-cisionone-helping-pr-teams-track-how-brands-appear-in-ai-answers-302825235/), covered at the time by [PRmoment](https://www.prmoment.com/pr-news-july-2026/cision-adds-ai-search-visibility-to-cisionone) and syndicated on [PR Newswire](https://www.prnewswire.com/news/cision/) — the latest entrant in a wave of PR-suite AI-citation features that also includes Muck Rack's Generative Pulse, Onclusive's GEO Analytics and Meltwater's GenAI Lens. This review checks the product against the same buyer rubric used across this series, and against the Machine Relations Index for whether Cision itself shows up where it says it measures.

Cision is the largest legacy PR platform in this series by database size — 1.4 million journalists and influencers across 190 countries — and the AI Visibility Dashboard runs on Trajaan, a search-intelligence company Cision acquired in December 2025 after an eight-month partnership. That acquisition context matters: the dashboard is bolted onto an existing enterprise suite that also includes Brandwatch and PR Newswire, not a startup entering AI visibility from scratch.

If you already compared Cision against its PR-suite peers, see [Cision vs Muck Rack](https://authoritytech.io/blog/cision-vs-muck-rack-2026) or [Cision vs Meltwater](https://authoritytech.io/blog/cision-vs-meltwater-2026) for feature and pricing comparisons; [SearchEye's media relations software roundup](https://searcheye.io/blog/best-media-relations-software) independently reaches a similar "big-suite, custom-contract" read on where CisionOne fits. If you looked at the other two vendors in this AI-visibility-module series, read the [Muck Rack Generative Pulse review](https://authoritytech.io/blog/muck-rack-generative-pulse-review-2026) or the [Onclusive GEO Analytics review](https://authoritytech.io/blog/onclusive-geo-analytics-review-2026) — the pattern repeats here from a third vendor, with one meaningful difference explained below.

## Key numbers

- **Not zero — but barely not zero.** cision.com registered 2 citations in the Machine Relations Index's AI Visibility & GEO category out of roughly 2,997 domain-citation instances across the category's six question shapes: one in the "how buyers choose" shape (1 of 142 runs) and one in "top list" (1 of 101 runs). That makes Cision the first vendor in this series with any recorded presence in the exact category its own product measures.
- **94% of its citations are for something else.** Of cision.com's 66 total citations across 18,368 monitored answer runs, 62 sit in [Legacy News Topics](https://machinerelations.ai/index/categories/legacy-unmapped) (general news-driven citations) and 1 in Martech & Advertising — leaving only the 2 category citations above as evidence AI engines associate cision.com with AI-visibility buying questions specifically.
- **Stronger overall standing than its PR-suite peers reviewed so far.** cision.com ranks #166 of 25,105 observed domains (0.36% overall citation rate) — ahead of Muck Rack (#178) and well ahead of Onclusive (#389) — almost entirely on the strength of general news citations, not the AI-visibility category.
- **The widest published engine list in this series.** The dashboard tracks nine AI platforms — ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode and Mistral — more than Onclusive's five and more than any public description of Muck Rack's or Meltwater's coverage.
- **No published pricing, no published methodology.** Unlike Onclusive's tiered self-serve pricing from $105/month, CisionOne (including the AI Visibility Dashboard) is quote-only; [Vendr's procurement data](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/cision) puts the median signed Cision contract at $12,625/year across 107 purchases, ranging from $3,150 for narrow single-module access to $30,368 for broader configurations, with enterprise deployments reported to exceed $150,000–$200,000 annually. Cision has also not published a study validating how accurately Trajaan's AI-visibility signals track real reputation or purchasing outcomes.

## AI Visibility Dashboard evaluation at a glance

| Buyer rubric | Our read on the AI Visibility Dashboard | What to make the vendor prove |
|---|---|---|
| **Data accuracy** | Built on Trajaan, an acquired search-intelligence layer; an independent analysis found Cision has not published evidence that Trajaan signals reliably predict reputation or purchasing outcomes | The raw prompt-response data behind any trend chart, and whether Trajaan's methodology has been independently audited since the December 2025 acquisition |
| **Model coverage** | Nine platforms named at launch — the widest list in this series — but no per-tier or per-plan breakdown of which platforms are included at which contract level | Whether every platform on the marketing page is live for your specific contract tier, not just the top one |
| **Agent analytics** | Not offered. No crawler verification, no server-log integration | — |
| **LLM optimization** | Not offered. The dashboard monitors and reports; it does not draft, rewrite or stage content | — |
| **Prompt volume** | Not published. No disclosed per-account prompt allowance, unlike Onclusive's explicit tier-by-tier numbers | A concrete prompt or query allowance for your account before signing, not just "monitor your brand and competitors" |
| **Citation analysis** | Shows which journalists, publications and domains AI answers cite, with a direct link into CisionOne Outreach to pitch those sources — the most workflow-integrated version of this feature reviewed in this series | A raw export of cited sources for your own category, not just the dashboard view |
| **Metrics** | Visibility, share of voice, sentiment, competitor benchmarking and prompt/topic-level detail, unified with existing media and social monitoring in one report | Whether the AI-visibility metrics are broken out separately from blended media-and-social reporting, or require a manual filter each time |

## What the citation data says about Cision

The Machine Relations Index release used here is `mri_score_v2.0+2026-09-29+3d7cca280bd7`, covering 18,368 monitored answer runs across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity from May 10 to September 29, 2026. cision.com was cited in 66 of those runs, rank #166 of 25,105 observed domains — the strongest overall standing of any PR-suite vendor reviewed in this series so far.

| Segment | Cited runs | Observed runs | Citation rate | Standing |
|---|---:|---:|---:|---|
| Legacy News Topics (general news-driven citations) | 62 | 2,138 | 2.90% | strong, concentrated |
| Martech & Advertising | 1 | 602 | 0.17% | marginal |
| AI Visibility & GEO — "how buyers choose" | 1 | 142 | 0.70% | marginal |
| AI Visibility & GEO — "top list" | 1 | 101 | 0.99% | marginal |
| AI Visibility & GEO — four other question shapes (best tools, is it worth it, problem-first, comparisons) | 0 | 470 | 0.00% | not ranked |

Read this table the way this series has read it for every PR-suite vendor so far, with one addition: Cision is the first of the three legacy PR platforms reviewed (after [Muck Rack](https://authoritytech.io/blog/muck-rack-generative-pulse-review-2026) and [Onclusive](https://authoritytech.io/blog/onclusive-geo-analytics-review-2026), both at zero) where the domain shows up in the AI Visibility & GEO category at all. That is a real, if small, difference — and it is easy to overstate. Two citations against 2,997 domain-citation instances the category logged across its six question shapes is not evidence that AI engines treat cision.com as an authority on AI-visibility tooling; it is evidence that, roughly once in a while, a "how do buyers choose" or "top list" answer happens to include Cision alongside the dozens of other domains those runs typically cite. The other 94% of cision.com's citations sit in ordinary news coverage — most likely PR Newswire distribution and reported business stories, the same pattern any large, decades-old PR company earns independent of any AI-visibility product.

## Data accuracy

Cision's own [AI Visibility product page](https://www.cision.com/ai-visibility/) describes the dashboard in plain PR-workflow terms — track questions, monitor visibility, benchmark competitors — without publishing a methodology page for how citations are counted, sampled or verified. The dashboard runs on data from [Trajaan](https://www.remio.ai/post/cisions-trajaan-acquisition-expands-pr-intelligence-beyond-media-coverage), which Cision acquired in December 2025 after an eight-month partnership; Trajaan's own positioning is "search intelligence" spanning traditional search, commerce, social and generative-AI prompts across more than 150 countries. An independent analysis of the acquisition, published August 15, 2026, found that "Cision has not published independent evidence showing that these signals reliably predict reputation changes, purchasing decisions, or media coverage," and that no public customer results compare decisions made with and without the data. Treat the dashboard's visibility and sentiment scores as directional monitoring signals, not validated predictive metrics, until Cision publishes evidence otherwise.

## Model coverage

Cision's [launch announcement](https://www.cision.com/about/press-releases/2026-press-releases/cision-adds-ai-search-visibility-to-cisionone-helping-pr-teams-track-how-brands-appear-in-ai-answers-302825235/) names nine platforms: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Google AI Overview, Google AI Mode and Mistral — the widest list named at launch by any PR-suite AI-visibility feature in this series, ahead of Onclusive's five-engine top tier. What Cision does not publish, unlike Onclusive's explicit Starter/Essential/Professional/Enterprise breakdown, is which of the nine platforms are included at which contract level. A wide list on the marketing page is not the same as confirmed coverage on your account; verify per-platform inclusion before you sign.

## Agent analytics

Not offered. The AI Visibility Dashboard reads AI answer text to determine what gets cited; it does not read your own server or CDN logs to verify which crawlers hit your site or distinguish real AI bots from spoofed traffic, the way Profound's [Agent Analytics](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/agent-analytics) does. This is the same gap every PR-suite AI-visibility feature reviewed in this series has left open.

## LLM optimization

Not offered. The dashboard monitors, benchmarks and reports; nothing in the product rewrites pages, drafts content for uncited questions, or stages CMS changes. It is a measurement and outreach-targeting layer for communications teams, not a content-execution tool — consistent with what this series has found in every PR-suite AI feature reviewed so far.

## Prompt volume

Cision does not publish a per-account prompt or query allowance anywhere in its public materials for the AI Visibility Dashboard — a contrast with Onclusive's explicit tier-by-tier numbers (80 to 2,000 prompts) and even Muck Rack's aggregate historical total. The marketing language describes tracking "your brand, competitors, and key topics" without a disclosed ceiling, so the practical scope of monitoring on any given contract is something to confirm directly with sales, not something you can compare from the public page.

## Citation analysis

This is the dashboard's most workflow-integrated feature in the series: it surfaces which journalists, publications and domains AI answers cite, then links directly into CisionOne Outreach so a comms team can jump straight to a journalist's profile, coverage history and relationship notes from the same view. Onclusive's Priority Source Targets scores sources for pitching priority; Cision goes one step further by connecting the citation directly to the existing outreach record inside the same platform. Both approaches answer "who should I pitch," not "how do I get my own site cited" — the gap every vendor in this series leaves for the earned-media work itself to close.

## Metrics

The dashboard reports visibility, share of voice, sentiment and competitor benchmarking, plus prompt- and topic-level detail on where a brand appears — broadly comparable in scope to Onclusive's GEO Analytics and Meltwater's GenAI Lens. Cision's stated differentiator is unifying this reporting alongside existing media monitoring and social listening in one dashboard rather than a separate tool, so a team already reporting on CisionOne data does not need to reconcile a second export.

## Pricing

Cision publishes no pricing for CisionOne or the AI Visibility Dashboard; [G2's pricing page](https://www.g2.com/products/cisionone/pricing) confirms there is no free trial and that "final cost negotiations must be conducted with the seller." [Vendr's procurement data](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/cision), aggregated from 107 real signed deals, puts the median Cision contract at $12,625/year (range $3,150–$30,368), with small teams on basic database access typically landing near $15,000/year and comprehensive enterprise deployments — full monitoring, distribution and analytics across multiple regions — reported to exceed $150,000–$200,000/year, a range corroborated independently by [EyeOut's 2026 Cision pricing breakdown](https://eyeout.com/blog/cision-pricing). Verified user reviews on [Gartner Peer Insights](https://www.gartner.com/reviews/vendors) also carry Cision's media-monitoring products, platform-wide rather than AI-Visibility-specific. G2 reviewers separately flag CisionOne's custom-quote model as a poor fit for small teams and nonprofits with tight budgets. On [G2](https://www.g2.com/products/cisionone/reviews), CisionOne holds 3.9 out of 5 across 1,344 reviews — a platform-wide rating that predates the AI Visibility Dashboard's July 2026 launch and is not specific to it. Cision's broader product portfolio (including PR Newswire and Brandwatch) holds the same 3.9-of-5 average across 2,382 reviews on G2.

## Where the AI Visibility Dashboard is strong

- **The widest published engine list** in this series — nine platforms at launch.
- **Direct outreach handoff.** Cited journalists and domains link straight into CisionOne's existing pitching workflow, the most integrated version of "citation to outreach" reviewed so far.
- **Built into an existing enterprise workflow** — one login alongside the largest media database in this series for teams already on CisionOne.
- **The only PR-suite vendor in this series whose domain shows up at all** in the Index's AI Visibility & GEO category, even if only marginally.

## Where it falls short of a dedicated AI-visibility platform

- **No published pricing or prompt/query allowance** — unlike Onclusive, everything here requires a sales conversation.
- **No published methodology**, and an independent analysis found no public evidence that Trajaan's signals predict real outcomes.
- **No agent analytics, no content-execution tools.**
- **Barely visible where it claims to matter.** Two citations in the Index's AI Visibility & GEO category against nearly 3,000 domain-citation instances logged across that category — real, but not evidence of category authority.

## Who should buy it

- An enterprise comms team already running CisionOne for media monitoring, journalist outreach and PR Newswire distribution that wants AI-answer tracking in the same login and workflow.
- A team that specifically values the widest published multi-platform engine coverage over a lower entry price.
- A team that wants cited journalists and domains to flow directly into an existing pitching database rather than a separate export.

## Who should look elsewhere

- A team buying its first AI-visibility tool as a standalone product, where published pricing, disclosed prompt volume, deeper causal analysis or content-execution tools matter more than PR-suite integration.
- A budget-conscious team — CisionOne's quote-only, enterprise-scale pricing is a recurring complaint in its own G2 reviews.
- Anyone evaluating the dashboard's own reporting as proof the underlying platform is authoritative on AI visibility — check whether Cision's own domain shows up in the answers it says it measures first, and note that even the best PR-suite showing in this series (2 of nearly 3,000 category citations) is still marginal.

## Where earned media still fits

Cision's own pitch is that AI answers draw on earned media and that the AI Visibility Dashboard exists to connect PR activity to AI-citation outcomes. That framing is consistent with what this review series has found vendor by vendor: Profound is named far more often than its own site is cited; Adobe's AI-citation product has zero published reviews; Evertune, with $19 million raised, is named last of ten tracked platforms; Muck Rack's Generative Pulse and Onclusive's GEO Analytics have never themselves been cited in the category they measure. Cision breaks that pattern only slightly — two citations against thousands of domain-citation instances is closer to statistical noise than category authority. [Machine Relations](https://machinerelations.ai) is the discipline that treats earned citation as the outcome to build toward, measured by the [Machine Relations Index](https://machinerelations.ai/index). AuthorityTech is the earned-media practice that applies it for clients — including in the PR-monitoring category this review sits in.

## FAQ

**Is Cision's AI Visibility Dashboard a good AI-visibility tool?**
It is the widest-reach monitoring feature among legacy PR-monitoring platforms reviewed in this series — nine tracked AI platforms and a direct link from cited sources into CisionOne's outreach workflow. It is not a substitute for a dedicated AI-visibility platform: no published pricing or prompt volume, no agent analytics, no content-execution tools, and no published evidence that its underlying Trajaan data predicts real outcomes.

**Does Cision itself show up in AI answers about AI-visibility tools?**
Barely. In the Machine Relations Index release covering May 10 to September 29, 2026, cision.com recorded 2 citations across the six AI Visibility & GEO question shapes, out of nearly 3,000 domain-citation instances logged in that category — the only nonzero showing among the three PR-suite vendors reviewed in this series, but still marginal next to the 62 citations it earns in ordinary news coverage.

**How much does Cision's AI Visibility Dashboard cost?**
Cision does not publish pricing. CisionOne, which includes the AI Visibility Dashboard, is sold on custom quotes only, with third-party procurement data placing contracts at $25,000–$80,000+ annually.

**What's the difference between the AI Visibility Dashboard and a dedicated AI-visibility platform like Profound?**
The AI Visibility Dashboard tracks a brand's AI-answer presence as one module inside a broader enterprise media-intelligence suite, alongside earned media, social and journalist-outreach workflows. Dedicated AI-visibility platforms like Profound, Semrush and Peec AI are built around AI-citation tracking as the core product, generally with deeper causal analysis, agent analytics or content-execution tools attached. They answer overlapping but different buyer questions.
